Sailfish are one of the fastest swimmers in the ocean, clocked at 68mph! Their large beautiful sails rise to a heigh that equals their body and is blue-grey in color. There are two subspecies of Sailfish – Atlantic and Indo-Pacific. You’ll find sailfish in abundant numbers in the South Pacific.

Purely a sportfish, their meat is tough and has little to no market value. Sailfish travel together in small groups, and work together to disrupt schools of baitfish. These pelagic fish are very powerful and will fight vigorously when caught, so trolling for sailfish is definitely a team sport!
